Alex is a creative and collaborative Cinematographer and Operator. Based in Manchester, but working across the UK and internationally, Alex’s work has spanned film, television and commercials.
Recent features have included Widows Walk (in post) and In Extremis starring David O’Hara (The Departed, Braveheart), together with Lisa Gormley (Home and Away) and Isabelle Allen (Les Miserables). The film has received multiple nominations for outstanding cinematography during its current festival run. Earlier projects have included Entity, starring Dervla Kirwan and Charlotte Riley, which was awarded Best Horror and Best Low Budget Film at the 2013 London Independent Film Awards.
Alex shot BBC3’s Overshadowed in 2017, with the programme being praised for its innovative photography. It is currently available on the BBC3 iPlayer channel. Other work for television has included second unit Director of Photography and B camera operator on BBC1’s The Syndicate, and B camera for the BBC/Netflix co-production of The Worst Witch.
Alex has previously worked as a camera operator, assistant, and DIT, and has also gaffered a number of short and feature films including work for Robbie Ryan BSC and Stephen Murphy BSC.
